Fiona's Motherhood experience has taught her to trust her instincts, prioritise self-care, seek support, and treasure the time with her children. Her advice to new mothers? Trust yourself, nurture your well-being, build a support network, and embrace rest when you can.

What are some of the traditions or rituals that are important to your family

In our family, we cherish the tradition of sharing dinner together at the table, device-free and distraction-free, to connect and share stories about our day. As our children grew older, busy schedules and extracurricular activities made this ritual more challenging, but we made it a priority whenever possible. Additionally, special occasions like birthdays and Christmas gatherings were always a time for unity and celebration with our extended family, creating lasting memories and strengthening our family bonds.

How has becoming a mother changed you as a person .

I think becoming a mother has taught me true unconditional love and acceptance for my children. Raising kids requires alot of patience and understanding which sometimes can be difficult. With having as many children as I do it also means you have to have to make sacrifices and put their needs before your own.

What advice would you give to new mothers based on your own experiences?

First of all would be to trust your instincts. You know your baby best and your intuition is powerful. Don't hesitate to trust your gut feelings.

Also important is to have time to take care of your physical, emotional and mental wellbeing. You can’t pour from an empty cup!

Asking for help is also important, to set up a strong support system.

And of course sleep when your baby sleeps if possible.
