Every wardrobe needs a few shoes that do the dressing up for you, and this season at Sissa Sorella that might be a pair of Chrissie Brazil heels. They're the kind you buy for a wedding, a long lunch or a night out, then find yourself wearing far more often than you planned.

First, a little about the brand

As the name suggests, Chrissie Brazil shoes are made in Brazil, a country with a long and proud shoemaking tradition. The brand works in quality leather, often lined in leather too, and every pair is beautifully finished.

Chrissie believes in versatility across the seasons, with distinctive styling and a range of heel heights, at a price that feels very fair for the quality.

Sophisticated, strong and practical

That's how we've always described Chrissie Brazil, and it still sums them up perfectly. These are heels with presence: clean lines, a squared or pointed toe, a fine contrast strap or a little sculptural heel, but never fussy for the sake of it.

Practical matters just as much. Chrissie leans towards heel heights and shapes you can actually walk in, so one pair can take you from the ceremony to the dance floor, or from the office to dinner.

Leather that feels as good as it looks

Soft leather makes all the difference in a heel. It moves with your foot, softens with wear and stops a special-occasion shoe from feeling like hard work. One of our customers summed it up after buying her pair: the colour, the softness of the leather, the comfort and the style were all just right.

What's catching our eye this season

With Melbourne Cup, end-of-year parties and wedding season just around the corner, Kate's current Chrissie Brazil edit is three open-toe heels, mostly on lower, easy-to-wear heights of around 4-5cm.

There's a soft black leather slip-on with a fine tan strap and a fabulous little sculptural heel. A champagne-gold metallic with delicate crossover straps, which gives you a little shimmer without the sparkle. And a pretty pointed style in nude leather with a flash of lemon and a painterly metallic floral print.

All three are dressy enough for an occasion, but just as happy with denim or tailored trousers.

The heels you'll keep reaching for

A great heel shouldn't spend most of the year in its box. Wear your Chrissie Brazil heels to the wedding, then again with jeans on an ordinary Friday.
