About Sissa Sorella by Katie Dawson
SISSA SORELLA - DEAKIN
A dynamic addition to the Canberra retail scene, Sissa Sorella opened in Deakin in March, 2018. The store features a carefully curated range of women's shoes and accessories.
The creator of Sissa Sorella, Kate, has always had a passion for shoes. Born and bred in Canberra, after graduating from RMIT University in Melbourne, Kate embarked on a career in logistics with Qantas in Sydney before moving back to Canberra upon the birth of her daughter Ava, in 2007. Upon returning to Canberra, Kate and her husband ran a winery restaurant in Murrumbateman for seven years, before a stint in event management at the National Gallery of Australia.
Opportunity knocked, and presented Kate the perfect space to create a shoe haven in her local shopping precinct. The opportunity was too good to pass up. And from there, the story of Sissa Sorella began. A warm and inviting space, the little pink corner of Deakin. Located behind the buzzing Double Shot cafe in the Deakin Shopping Centre; the Sissa Sorella store itself is a delight and very pink; featuring highly textured walls and luxurious textiles in tones of pink, grey and teal, balanced with a polished concrete floor and natural wood and gold features.
There's a tempting collection of shoes from stylish flats to stunning heels and many locally hand made, one-off accessory pieces. Much thought and planning has gone into ensuring each seasonal collection caters for work, casual and special events.
