Högl is the New Black
You know those shoes that seem to work with everything? The ones that make a suit feel sharper, a dress more polished and even a pair of jeans look like you made an effort?
Meet Högl - you can thank us later.
Our favourite Austrian footwear brand has a wonderful way of taking classic shoe shapes and making them feel completely fresh. Kate describes Högl as having an almost Parisian feel – elegant, feminine and polished, with beautiful lines and just enough detail to make you look twice.
And while there are certainly a few fabulous black shoes in the Spring/Summer 2026 collection, there’s much more to Högl than that.
Classic, but never boring
There’s a reason certain shoe shapes come back season after season. A beautifully cut pump, an elegant ballet flat, a pointed slingback and a great pair of sneakers will earn their place in your wardrobe over and over again.
Högl starts with those familiar shapes and then has a little fun with them. This season you’ll find beautiful neutrals and classic black alongside metallic golds and silvers, rich bronze, flashes of orange and magenta, mesh details, buckles and interesting finishes.
The result is a collection that feels sophisticated without becoming conservative.
And that’s really what we love about Högl. These are shoes you can build an outfit around, but they’re just as good at being the finishing touch that pulls everything together.
The shoes that work as hard as your wardrobe does
Högl lends itself beautifully to a corporate wardrobe. The pointed flats, pumps, slingbacks and low heels are an easy match for tailored trousers, suiting, dresses and skirts, particularly if your working wardrobe needs to feel professional without becoming predictable. But we wouldn’t call them simply “corporate shoes”.
Pair a pointed flat with denim and a beautiful shirt. Wear a metallic slingback with a simple dress. Take a classic pump out for dinner. Throw a ballet flat on with wide-leg pants or your favourite jeans.
That versatility is what makes these styles so useful, they don’t belong to one outfit, one occasion or even one season.
The beautiful leather makes a difference
Of course, a shoe can look beautiful, but if you’re going to wear it all day, how it feels matters just as much. One of the things Kate particularly loves about Högl is the leather. The collection features beautifully soft sheep leather that feels incredibly soft to the touch, giving some of these more structured and elegant shapes a very different feel on the foot than you might expect.
You’ll also find practical rubber soles across styles in the collection, adding comfort and durability without taking away from that refined finish. It’s one of those details you may not immediately notice when you look at the shoe, but you certainly appreciate it when you wear it.
The ballet flat is going nowhere
If there was ever any doubt that the ballet flat was properly back, this collection should settle it. Högl has taken the shape in several directions for Spring/Summer; from beautifully simple flats to pointed toes, slingbacks, metallic finishes and subtle hardware.
They’re feminine, timeless and incredibly easy to style. For work, they give you that polished finish without needing a heel. For weekends, they make denim instantly feel a little more put together. And as we move into warmer weather, they’re a lovely alternative when you want something lighter than a full shoe but aren't quite ready for a sandal.
And then there’s the colour...
Classic style absolutely does not have to mean beige, black or navy. Some of our favourite moments in this Högl collection come from the colour and metallics. There are beautiful gold, silver and bronze tones that work almost like neutrals, alongside those fabulous hits of orange and magenta when you want the shoe to do a little more of the talking.
It’s a very clever way to wear colour. You can keep the rest of your outfit beautifully simple and let the shoes provide the interesting bit. And sometimes, that’s all an outfit needs.
Yes, Högl does sneakers too
Just when you think you have Högl neatly filed away under beautiful European flats and heels, please note… sneakers. The same polished approach carries through to the more casual end of the collection, with clean shapes and metallic details that make them easy to wear beyond active or weekend dressing.
They're the kind of sneaker that works with jeans, tailored pants, skirts and dresses, particularly when you want the comfort of a sneaker without making the whole outfit feel sporty.
So, is Högl the new black?
We think it might be. Not because every shoe is black, clearly, this collection has other ideas, but because Högl has that quality we’re always looking for when choosing shoes for Sissa Sorella: wearability.
Beautiful shoes are lovely. Beautiful shoes that you keep reaching for for multiple outfits are even better. Högl gives you classic shapes without being boring, elegance without being fussy, and enough personality to make even the simplest outfit feel considered.
Perhaps that’s why Kate gets that little hint of Paris from them.
Austrian they may be, but there’s something about slipping on a beautifully shaped Högl flat, slingback or pump that makes you want to straighten your shoulders, put on a great pair of sunglasses and find somewhere nice for lunch.
And we are very much here for that.
