Pinaz: Summer, the Spanish Way

There are some shoes that immediately make you think of warmer days, linen dresses and holidays (somewhere considerably warmer than Canberra at the moment) and the new Pinaz collection is giving us exactly that feeling.

Designed and made in Spain, Pinaz brings together comfort and wearability with that wonderfully relaxed European approach to summer dressing. Think natural textures, earthy colours, easy straps and espadrille-inspired details, all brought together in shoes that are made for long, warm days.

Meet Pinaz

Pinaz is a family-owned Spanish footwear brand that has been making shoes in Spain since 1982, with its own factories in Caravaca de la Cruz and Elche - two areas with strong connections to Spanish footwear production. Summer shoes are a particular part of the Pinaz story, with sandals and espadrilles featuring prominently in its collections. Traditional details such as jute sit alongside leather, suede, canvas and contemporary materials, bringing that unmistakably Mediterranean feeling into shoes designed for modern wardrobes.

It’s a combination that makes a lot of sense to us at Sissa. We want beautiful shoes, obviously, but we’re also rather fond of being able to actually wear them.

The summer sandal, sorted

The sandals in our first Pinaz collection are beautifully uncomplicated, with easy shapes, relaxed straps and low espadrille-style soles in the kind of colours that slip very easily into a summer wardrobe.

Navy, khaki, stone and warm earthy tones give the collection a lovely natural base, and they work particularly well with all those pieces we tend to live in once the weather warms up - linen pants, denim, summer dresses, skirts and relaxed tailoring.

One of our favourite things about this little collection is the colour. While the palette is grounded in those lovely natural tones, Pinaz isn't afraid to throw something unexpected into the mix. There are beautiful combinations of khaki, tan and neutrals, classic navy and then a fabulous little hit of yellow and aqua. Some of the colour combinations in our collection have been created exclusively for Sissa Sorella, so you won't find them anywhere else!

And if you like a little extra height but have absolutely no intention of spending summer balancing on a tiny heel, Pinaz has thought of you too. The wedges give you that lovely bit of lift while keeping the overall feeling relaxed, with the natural texture around the sole tying them beautifully into the rest of the collection.

We love these styles with a floaty summer dress one day and linen pants or jeans the next. You get some of the length and polish of a heel, but in a shoe that still feels very much made for summer and we’re always interested in shoes that can do more than one job.

Perhaps we need to embrace the Spanish lifestyle too...

There’s something about Pinaz that has us dreaming of the Spanish approach to summer … warm days, long lunches, beautiful shoes and perhaps even the occasional afternoon siesta (hint hint Katie?!) … But until we can convince her we’ll happily settle for the shoes.

There’s definitely a holiday feeling to this collection. But you don’t need flights to Spain booked to justify them. That same relaxed versatility is exactly what makes Pinaz work so well for an Australian Spring and Summer.

When we bring a new brand into Sissa Sorella, we're always looking beyond one beautiful pair of shoes. We want to know whether the collection will genuinely fit into the wardrobes and lives of the wonderful women who shop with us.

This first Pinaz collection feels very Sissa Sorella for exactly that reason. There’s colour without complication, interesting texture without fussiness, and an emphasis on easy, wearable shoes you can imagine reaching for again and again.

Spanish made, Australian summer ready and perhaps best enjoyed after a long lunch and before a siesta.
